Zync vs. Conversations

Both speak XMPP with OMEMO. If you use Conversations, you can chat with Zync.
Conversations ships via Google Play and F-Droid and updates itself. Zync ships as an APK from this page.
Zync has its own server field with host, port and direct TLS, plus UnifiedPush against push.zync.im.
Conversations is mature and long proven. Zync is young, under active development and tailored to Zerta.

Installation

Download APK and open on your Android device
Allow «Unknown sources» for the browser/file manager
Install and sign in with your XMPP address
No account yet? Choose your address as you@zync.im during onboarding.
Updates are not automatic: download the new version here and install it over the existing one.

Android XMPP client, fork of Moxxy, tailored for the Zerta server. Source code on git.uuxo.net. Distribution: APK from this page and git.uuxo.net only. No Google Play, not on F-Droid/IzzyOnDroid yet, no iOS. Security issues and breakage via Gitea.
